Excited (Green)

Posted on October 25, 2008December 5, 2008 by Ed Medley

I’m excited at the thought of leaving
all this familiar pasture.
I’m told that the grass is greener
on the other side of the hill.
I hope not.
I know green.
I want to know blue and yellow too.

Toronto, December, 1970

Note: the reference to wanting to know yellow and blue, components of green, was also a crude play on the titles of two Swedish movies, I am Curious Yellow and I am Curious Blue which were infamous in the late 1960’s.
