Making Out, First Time

Posted on October 26, 2008May 23, 2009 by Ed Medley

This was his moment.

He was going to make his first girl. For months his body had been jumping from dream to dream. He had lived this moment many times.

He creeped between the week-old sheets. She grinned, showing the gap where her two front teeth should have been. The bed springs creaked. He groaned in time with them.

This was his moment.

His hand reached for her tom-boy body. Freckle-like marks covered her face. They creeped down her neck and shoulders, and disappeared under the sheets.

“What are all the spots?,” he whispered.

“Leprosy,” she giggled.

I wrote this piece in spring 1970 as an assignment in Technical Writing while a student of Public Relations at Humber College, near Toronto. The teacher, Sandy J~, was in her late 20’s; nearly 10 years older than me. She was pretty. I was besotted with her. My crush on her inspired me to write the best I could, to impress her and to win her heart. Even though Sandy gave me a 3- out of 4 for this homework, I did not have a hope of succeeding with my courting of her with such bad prose…
